BENGALURU: In the wake of the shocking resignation of senior Congress leader SM Krishna, the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) on Monday came out swinging at the Congress’ ‘misguided’ youth in Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, which was consistently disregarding the loyal services of veterans.
“His target (Krishna) by the resignation was Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who did not recognise the services of S.M Krishna. The leadership of present Congress is overlooking the leadership of senior Congress members of the Party which is seriously hurting them.” BJP leader S. Prakash told ANI here.
He added saying that in past as well, several officials like Karnataka’s Janardhan Poojari, former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president and reputed Dalit leader Srinivas Prasad also raised a strong point against Rahul’s leadership.
“The exit of SM Krishna is a big blow to the national leadership of Congress. He has clearly stated that Rahul Gandhi is incapable of leading Congress. I think Congress is going to pay in the coming days,” he added.
Going further with his criticism on the SP-Cong alliance, Prakash stated that that the newly forged alliance was built on ‘punctured’ wheels.
“Just days before this development, Congress was making a scathing attack on Yadav’s government. Posters and hoardings were put up against this government, overnight this narration was changed to pad up an alliance with Samajwadi party. Two desperate elements have joined hands and are claiming to win 300 seats,” he said.
Further criticising Rahul’s remark of branding 70 percent of Punjab’s youth as drug addicts, he said that repetitions of such claims by both Rahul and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal paints a bad image of youths of Punjab and unnecessarily bringing a bad name to the ruling family of Badals.
The attack comes a day after the resignation of senior leader S.M. Krishna from the Congress Party, who said the grand old party doesn’t need mass leaders like him and only wants managers, who can handle a situation.
“The party demands only managers. They don't need time-tested leaders and workers like me. With pain and anguish, I have decided to quit the Congress. This is a time to do some introspection,” Krishna told the media here.
Expressing pain over his ouster from the grand old party, Krishna alleged that the party had sidelined him citing his old age.
In a written letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Krishna yesterday tendered his resignation from the party’s membership.
"I am herewith tendering my resignation to the primary membership of the Congress Party," it read.
