NEW DELHI: With strong sense of anguish expressed within the RSS affiliate groups following the terrorist attack on Amarnath pilgrims on Monday night, the BJP sought to put up a brave face, saying that the militants will be hunted down and defeated.

Coming out in the open to express dissatisfaction, the Vishwa Hindu Praishad (VHP) leader and known baiter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Praveen Togadia demanded imposition of President rule in Jammu and Kashmir and handing over the state to the Armed forces. He even wondered how could there be no full time Defence Minister in a country of 1.25 billion. Incidentally, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely holds the additional charge of the Ministry of Defence after Manohar Parrikar went back to his “first love” Goa following fractured verdict in the Assembly election to head the BJP led NDA government in the state.

However, the BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav told reporters that the Amarnath pilgrims would be provided with full proof security arrangements. Madhav, incidentally, is the BJP’s points-person for Jammu and Kashmir, besides being a proponent of the iron-fisted approach against the separatists in the valley.

“The Amarnath pilgrimage will continue and all necessary steps will be taken to ensure that no such attack takes place again,” Madhav said
