Over 7,900 posts created in government departments in 2016-17: Centre

As regards all India services the Centre every five years re-examined the strength and composition of each cadre.

NEW DELHI: Over 7,900 posts have been created at various levels in the central government departments during 2016-17, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

"The Department of Expenditure has informed that during 2016-17 (i.e till March 31, 2017), 7,903 posts at various levels in ministries/departments/autonomous bodies or attached offices (including defence personnel, central paramilitary forces, hospitals, schools etc.) have been created," Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply.

As regards the all India services, including IAS and IPS, the Centre every five years re-examined the strength and composition of each cadre, in consultation with the state government concerned, and made such alterations therein as it deemed fit, he added.

"The new posts are created in consultation with the state governments," said Singh.
