LUCKNOW:  After the recent arrest of a 14-year old boy for alleged rape and murder of a girl child in Lucknow, two teenagers, were nabbed by police in the Sangam City of Allahabad on Monday in connection with the murder of a 13-year-old boy.

While one of the boys arrested was 16 years old, the other was 11. The two have reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted that they stoned their friend Sumit (13) to death on July 17.

Cantt police sources said, Sumit and the two culprits assembled at Rajapur cemetery of the city area in the afternoon of July 17. The trio reportedly consumed narcotic. Possibly they were addicted to ‘whiterner’ inhalation, which is considered to be the first step towards alcoholism and addiction, police said.

As the three got dozed off after inhaling whitener, one of them asked Sumit if he would shell out some money so that they could get a beer. However, Sumit refused. Consequently, the other two got annoyed and picked up a fight with Sumit.

The spat turned ugly when Sumit, in a fit of rage, allegedly bit one of the boys on his shoulder. Irked, the boy hit Sumit on his head with a brick, knocking him unconsciousness.

Fearing that if Sumit regains consciousness, they will get arrested, the two thrashed him with stones until he died. Later, they stole the money in Sumit's wallet and divided it equally among them before fleeing the spot.

Fearing arrest, the duo left Allahabad. However, on July 23, both returned to the city assuming that the police won't identify them.

By then, Cantt police had recovered Sumit’s body and were already on a look out for them. According to Station House Officer (SHO) of the Cantt Police Station RK Awasthi, the two belong to the lower strata of the society.

While the elder of the two worked at a cycle repair shop, the younger was employed in a small food joint.

Station House Officer (SHO) Awasthi said both of them have never been to a school. Nor did they have a criminal background.

Police said all the three teenagers had known each other for the last two years and were addicted to whitener inhalation.

National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reported a 100-300% increase in juvenile delinquency rates across the country recently.
