KOLKATA: THE Calcutta High Court on Wednesday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe whether Trinamool Congress MP Aparupa Poddar alias Afrin Ali had demanded money from Narada TV CEO Matthew Samuel.

The Narada CEO had alleged that Aparupa had demanded Rs 3 lakh from him and had promised all kinds of assistance, following the payment.

Hearing the plea of the accused, Arambagh MP Aparupa Poddar, Justice Jaymalya Bagchi asked the investigating agency to ascertain how the transaction of the bribe money took place.

The court expressed surprise when the police stated that Matthew Samuel was yet to be interrogated. Justice Bagchi asked the CBI to complete Samuel’s interrogation before the next hearing of the case on June 20.
