Police suspect the vehicle was speeding on the narrow bridge over the canal or the driver may have dozed off at the wheel.

MATHURA: Ten people, including five women, died after the car in which they were travelling fell into the Makera canal in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh this morning, the UP police said.

Superintendent of police (rural) Aditya Shukla said the passengers were pilgrims from Bareilly returning after a visit to the Mehandipur Balaji temple in Rajasthan.
