MUMBAI: JUST ahead of BJP president Amit Shah’s Mumbai visit Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray lashed out at the BJP government accusing it of trying to postpone the loan waiver.

“We are with farmers. If the government is planning to go in for mid-term polls without implementing the decision of loan waiver, Shiv Sena will not let it happen,” Thackeray said on Thursday at Shegaon in Vidarbha.

Thackeray was reacting to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ statement last night where, while reacting to media’s questions, the CM had said that the state BJP is fully prepared for mid-term polls. Questions on mid-term polls were triggered by Thackeray’s statement on Wednesday that there would be political earthquake in the state in the month of July if the government fails in implementing the loan waiver.

Thackeray also made it clear on Thursday that the Shiv Sena is opposed to the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Corridor. “We won’t let the fertile irrigated land to go under the highway. We had built Mumbai-Pune express way when we were in power. But, back then fertile land was not acquired and hence there was no opposition to the project,” Thackeray said.

While explaining Shiv Sena’s stand on loan waiver; Thackeray said that the government has taken into account suggestions made by the Shiv Sena and is preparing to give `10,000 in advance to needy farmers. “We are pushing for speedy and proper implementation of the scheme announced by the government,” he said.

Meanwhile, BJP’s National President Amit Shah, who is arriving on a three-day visit to the city, would meet Uddhav Thackeray at his residence on Sunday, state BJP president Raosaheb Danve has said.

Shah is expected to discuss the Shiv Sena’s support to the NDA candidate during his visit to Matoshree.
He is also scheduled to conduct around 25 meetings including editors and opinion makers apart from party office bearers during his visit.
