77 cases of sedition registered in 2014-15: Government

In 2015, the highest nine sedition cases were registered in Bihar, followed by four in West Bengal, Ahir said.

NEW DELHI: As many as 77 cases of sedition were registered in different parts of the country during 2014-15, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

"As per the information received from National Crime Records Bureau, a total of 47 cases were registered in 2014 and 30 cases in 2015 under the offence of Sedition (Section 124A of IPC)," Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir said replying a written question.

In 2014, the highest number of 18 sedition cases were registered in Jharkhand, among all states, followed by Bihar, where 16 sedition cases were registered in that year.

In 2015, the highest nine sedition cases were registered in Bihar, followed by four in West Bengal, Ahir said.
