MDMK Chief Vaiko joins farmers protest in Delhi

Farmers from  who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for more than two weeks, one of the farmers wrapped himself in muslin cloth pretending to be dead in a form of protest.

NEW DELHI:  With the support growing for them in the national capital, MDMK Chief Vaiko joined the farmers on Sunday and promised them that he will hand over their list of demands to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, whom a representation of farmers have met earlier also.

Farmers from  who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for more than two weeks, one of the farmers wrapped himself in muslin cloth pretending to be dead in a form of protest.

It has been almost over a fortnight since the farmers sat on protest in national capital’s iconic protest site demanding a drought relief package of Rs 40,000 crore from the Centre for Tamil Nadu, farm loan waiver, setting up of the Cauvery Management Board and the unification of rivers among others.  

Ranging from Tamil film actors and celebrities and politicians has visited the protest sit in order to show solidarity with farmers in the last two weeks. Farmers unions from adjoining states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
