3 dead, 8 injured as lightning strikes Chanshal Pass

The deceased have been identified as Amar Singh (55), Lokinder (27), both residents of village Balabat, and Mohar Singh (48) of village Monda in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

SHIMLA:  Three shepherds died and eight others were injured as lightening struck the mighty Chanshal Pass on the Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand border, 180 km from here, today.

A dozen shepherds from Uttarakhand were on their way to the Chansal Pass when the tragedy struck, police said.

A team of Himachal police led by Munish Sharma, SHO Chirgaon, reached the spot. The bodies of the three victims were recovered and airlifted to Uttar Kashi, police said, adding the injured have been admitted to the hospital.
