BHOPAL: Five days after a 19-year-old daughter of a cop couple was allegedly gangraped by four men in Bhopal, a 12-year-old girl was found murdered in a semi-nude state in Dewas district of the state on Sunday.
Dewas district superintendent of police Anshuman Singh said, “Primary investigation suggest that the girl was sexually assaulted before her clothes were stuffed into her mouth, causing her to die of asphyxia.”
The minor, a resident of Sundran village in the district, had been missing since Friday evening. Her body was spotted by villagers near an agricultural plot. The matter was reported to the police and the girl’s father later identified her body.
“A case has been lodged against unidentified accused under Sections 302 (murder) and 376 (sexual assault) of IPC and investigations are underway,” said Singh.
Hang them on a road crossing: Gangrape survivor
Meanwhile, the October 31-gangrape survivor girl speaking to the media on Sunday morning said “The most deserving punishment would be to hang them to death on a road crossing to ensure that such crimes don’t happen again.”
She also spoke about the non-cooperation that she allegedly faced from the police. The civil service aspirant said, “Only the Habibganj in-charge of the police station tried to help our cause. The Habibganj GRP station in-charge behaved in most ruthless manner with us.”
Recounting the ordeal she faced while registering the rape case with the police, the 19-year-old said, “Out of three accused arrested so far, the first one was spotted and nabbed by my parents and relatives from his shanties, while he was playing cards there.
“While we were bringing him (the accused) to the police station, his kin attacked us. When we finally brought him to the Habibganj GRP station, the station in-charge didn’t arrest him immediately despite the accused admitting to his crime,” she claimed.
On Thursday, the in-charge of MP Nagar police station, Habibganj police station and Habibganj GRP station were suspended in the matter along with two sub-inspectors for delay in action in the matter.
She was also critical of SP GRP (Bhopal) Anita Malviya, who has been hogging the headlines for laughing to journalists while talking to them about the rape case.
In the wake of the controversy, the 2009-batch IPS officer Malviya was shifted to the state police headquarters as AIG on Sunday.
