BSP leader Uma Shankar Singh booked for violating model code of conduct in Uttar Pradesh

The police said the case was filed as the BSP legislator was found campaigning for the elections after the end of the campaigning hours.

BALLIA: BSP's deputy leader in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Uma Shankar Singh, has been booked by the police for violating the model code of conduct, which is in force for the civic polls, an official said today.

"A case was registered late last night at Rasra Kotwali against BSP MLA Uma Shankar Singh, Satish Singh (Rasra kshetra panchayat pramukh) and 20 others on a complaint of the flying squad in-charge under relevant sections of IPC," Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said.

The police said the case was filed as the BSP legislator was found campaigning for the elections after the end of the campaigning hours.

Polling was held in Ballia today.
