MLAs Bains brothers allege bid to influence & bribe judiciary in Khaira case

Bains brothes demanded CBI probe into the matter claiming it to be conversation about payment of Rs 35 lakh for passing order against Khaira in the ongoing drugs case.

CHANDIGARH:  Both the MLAs of Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh
Bains today released an audio recording claiming it to be a conversation about payment of Rs 35 lakh to a Punjab and Haryana High Court judge for action against Leader of Opposition and AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira in a drug smuggling case.

Bains brothes demanded CBI probe into the matter claiming it to be conversation about payment of Rs 35 lakh for passing order against Khaira in the ongoing drugs case. They claimed that that they had solid proofs in this regard.

They alleged that the case against Khaira was a politically motivated conspiracy. The alleged audio conversation is between former Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officer TK Goyal and former additional
advocate general (AAG) Amit Chaudhary about paying the money to the judge.

Bains brothers claimed that the payment was made in connection with Khaira’s petition in the high court against his recent summoning by a Fazilka court in the drug smuggling case.

Goyal was recently dismissed on corruption charges. Chaudhary was AAG during the Akali rule.

Later,  Khaira said, “We have faith in judiciary, but they too have failed us. We bow to the judiciary. But a tout of the Punjab and Haryana High Court (referring to the lawyer) is claiming that he ensured that Khaira did not get relief (dismissal of revision petition).’’

“We consider judges like god. But it’s sad if justice is being compromised. We still do not know who is behind the controversy, though the name of Capt Amarinder Singh is there in the clip. I am a victim of a larger controversy. Though I can’t believe what is happening. We suspect that Sukhbir Singh Badal,
Bikram Singh Majithia and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh are involved. I have the suspicion that the order of the Fazilka court was also procured. I have been a whistleblower and that’s why I am being framed. I request the CJI to order a CBI probe in the case,” he said.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said the government would not intervene in the allegations against a judge levelled by the Bains brothers. He said the case was subjudice.

Both Bains brothers and AAP MLAs met Governor VP Singh Badnore and demand a CBI inquiry into the matter.
