NEW DELHI: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who never loses an opportunity to attack the BJP, has condemned the killing of an RSS pracharak in Congress-ruled Punjab. “I strongly condemn the killing of RSS leader Ravinder Gosai in Ludhiana. Violence is unacceptable. The guilty must be brought to book,” Rahul tweeted a day after the incident.

Sources said Rahul has instructed Punjab CM Amarinder Singh to arrest the culprits soon.Congress leaders said the comment was in sync with Rahul’s philosophy that there was no role for violence in public life though he has been regularly targeting the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS, for playing divisive politics and imposing a majoritarian view on the people.Since 2014, when the Congress lost power at the Centre, Rahul has attacked the RSS over rising intolerance, beef ban, tinkering with school textbooks, and interfering with government appointments and in policy matters.

“Rahulji has often said that this is an ideological fight with the RSS and he will never give up on this,” Congress communication chief Randeep Surjewala said. The latest war of words between Rahul and the RSS was when he blamed the organisation to be anti-women while campaigning in Gujarat. But the Congress vice-president also said that though he was opposed to the RSS, he respected the fact that its ideology originated from the soil of his own country.
