CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police on Sunday arrested two more people in connection with incidents of violence which broke out on August 25 in Panchkula after Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in a rape case.
Pradeep Goyal Insan, a Dera functionary, was arrested from Udaipur in Rajasthan by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haryana Police, a senior police official said.
Prakash alias Vicky, the brother-in-law of Dera spokesperson Aditya Insan, was also nabbed from Mohali, said Manbir Singh, Panchkula's deputy commissioner of police.
Another person identified as Vijay was arrested from Pinjore on Saturday, he added.
Pradeep Goyal, believed to be close aide of both Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his adopted daughter Honeypreet Insaan, revealed to the SIT that the latter has fled to Nepal. The Haryana Police had issued a lookout notice against both Honeypreet and Aditya earlier and had sent a team to Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh bordering Nepal in search of Honeypreet.
Police had intensified efforts to trace Honeypreet, after it arrested and questioned another sect functionary, Surinder Dhiman Insan, in connection with an alleged conspiracy to help Ram Rahim escape after his conviction by the special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25.
The police, after collecting videos from various sources pertaining to incidents of violence which broke out in Panchkula, had been trying to identify the accused involved in inciting violence and indulging in acts of arson. As a result, they have also arrested two Ambala residents identified as Pankaj and Sushil.
The Haryana Police made several arrests after violence broke out in Panchkula that includes Dera Sacha Sauda chief's top aide and spokesperson Dilawar Insan, who was arrested from Sonepat, on September 15.
The police had earlier also arrested Dera's state body member Gobind Insan.
