CHANDIGARH: Honeypreet Singh, daughter of the self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim is hiding in Nepal’s Mahendranagar town, according to intelligence officials. Meanwhile, Ram Rahim has been assigned farming activities in the Sunaria Jail in Rohtak. According to jail authorities, he will be given a daily wage of Rs 20.

Intelligence sources said that Honeypreet was spotted in Mahendranagar town of Nepal on Sunday in a vehicle bearing Nepalese registration. She was with three men, they said. The town is about five kilometers from the Indian border.

Sources said that a few days back, her mobile phone’s location was traced to Barmer and Udaipur districts of Rajasthan. Whether the phone was being used by her or somebody else is unknown. Also, Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan admitted that Honeypreet had come to the Dera headquarters in Sirsa on August 25 from Rohtak. Gurmeet  Ram Rahim was convicted that day. She stayed till the morning of August 26 and then left the Dera. To where she went, is not known.

Meanwhile, Dr. K P Singh, Director General  (Jails) Haryana, said that the jail authorities have given framing work to Ram Rahim, keeping in view the security situation. There is an empty place close to his barracks where he has been given the task of planting vegetables. “He will plant vegetables in the first week of October. In front of the barracks, there are some trees, which have been given to him for harvesting. He will earn a daily wage of Rs 20,” Singh added.
Singh said jail rules allowed two people having a blood relation to talk to a prisoner over the phone. The prisoner is allowed to talk after police verify the phone numbers.

Ram  Rahim gave two phone numbers, one of which is Honeypreet’s, while the other is his own. Honeypreet’s number is not reachable and Gurmeet Singh appears to have left his phone in the Dera. Since these numbers have not been verified so far,  he has not made any calls.

Dr. Singh said that due to security reasons, only a few prisoners were allowed to go to the barrack where Ram Rahim is lodged. The jail is equipped with surveillance cameras, he added. He added that Ram Rahim is being kept as a common prisoner.
