Jammu and Kashmir: Cop throws back grenade flung by militant in attack near Sopore's SBI branch

Militants hurled a grenade towards security forces at Main Chowk Sopore at around 9.35 am, resulting in minor injuries to two policemen.

SRINAGAR: An alert Special Police Officer (SPO) on Sunday threw back a grenade hurled by militants from inside a security force vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town, averting casualties to over 15 colleagues.

But the grenade exploded in the return throw, Two special police officers (SPOs) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and four civilians suffered minor injuries, a police officer said.

Militants hurled the grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp near a State Bank of India branch today at around 9:35 am.
