Rajasthan: Two held in connection with Panchkula violence

JAIPUR: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police has arrested two persons wanted in
connection with their alleged role in violence in Panchkula after Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in a rape case.

The accused Pal Singh and Baljinder Singh were arrested from Goluwala in Sriganganagar district following a tip-off, SP SOG Sanjay Shrotriya said. He said that the duo had played a role in triggering
violence in Panchkula. They were handed over to Haryana police for further investigation, he added.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in a rape case by a special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25. Following the conviction, violence erupted in Panchkula and Sirsa districts of Haryana leaving 41 people dead and several injured.

Ram Rahim Singh is presently in Rohtak jail undergoing a 20-year prison term.
