Housing scheme for Chandigarh residents

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) is all set to launch a housing scheme for residents. Over 500 flats of different categories will be constructed in Sector 53 under the scheme. As part of the scheme, 80 EWS flats, 120 one-bedroom flats, 100 two-bedroom flats and 200 three-bedroom flats will be constructed. For the first time, two level basement parkings have been planned in two and three-bedrooms flats while one basement parking would be provided for one-bedroom flats. The scheme is likely to be launched within two months after the environment clearance is granted.

Parking rate issue escalates 

The issue over hike in parking rates in the paid parking lots of the city escalated on Tuesday after the municipal corporation commissioner refused to act on the decision of the general House for a rollback of the hike in rates. The general House had also recommended serving a termination notice to parking firm Arya Toll Infra Limited. The matter will now be referred to the Chandigarh Administration.

Renovated Le Corbusier Centre  block opens for public The renovated block of the Le Corbusier Centre in Sector 19 was opened for the public on Tuesday. The event was held to commemorate the 122nd birth anniversary celebrations of Pierre Jeanneret, who was the first chief architect and urban designer of Chandigarh under his cousin Le Corbusier who designed the City. The event also witnessed the launch of the Open Hand Art Studios created by the Lalit Kala Akademi.

Another extension sought for home secretary 

The UT Administration has sought second extension from MHA for its home secretary Anurag Aggarwal who is Haryana cadre officer. The three-year tenure of Aggarwal had ended on January 11. Later, he was given a three-month extension. While the officer had proceeded on the leave on April 12 after his three-month extension period ended, the UT is awaiting the approval from the MHA for another extension to the officer.

RLA to launch mobile app

Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA) will soon launch a mobile application to facilitate online appointments to reduce the waiting period. The app will provide all information regarding the works done at the office of the RLA. The applicants now can get online appointment by logging on to the official website or through Chandigarh Helpline Number (1860-180-2067) or at the main RLA office in Sector 17.
