LUCKNOW: Four persons including a school principal were held by Maharajganj police after three videos showing girl students of Everest Public School in toilet went viral on social media sparking protests by the parents on Thursday.

All the four persons arrested were booked under section 66 and 67 IT Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act under Kotwali police station area of Maharajganj district in eastern UP.

As per reports, parents in large number had thronged Everest public School under Kotwali police station area in Maharajganj district and started protesting against videos of girl's toilet having gone viral on social media.

"On Thursday morning, as the students along with their parents were protesting against the videos at the school which has CBSC board till class X. Police reached there and arrested school principal, principal's brother and also two teachers who have already been dismissed from the service. The principal is also the owner of the school," said ASP, Maharajganj, Ashutosh Shukla.

"During initial investigation it was found that a camera was installed in girls' toilet some 5-6 month ago. Two teachers of the school Ashwani Gupta and Vijay Bahadur were in the know-how of it. They released the video on social media in March but the videos were not noticed by many. They re-released the video recently and school administration fired them ," the ASP added.

However, the school principal denied having any information about the camera in girls' toilet. "I have been the principal of this school for the last 20 years and have good reputation in society. I don't know anything about hidden camera and the videos which could be fake," said Principal and owner of the school, Ankho Puro adding that the school management would extend full cooperation to the police team in reaching the real culprits.
