AGRA: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has defended Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his statement on Muslims and disclosed that opposition is in no hurry to name its PM candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

" Rahul Gandhi is more Hindu than any BJP and there should be no question on him.

It is the BJP people who should come forward and clarify whether they are Hindu or not," he said.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Yadav said that the opposition is not in a hurry to name its PM candidate and it can be done either before the elections or just after it.

When asked about the opposition alliance during the coming Lok Sabha polls, the SP president said that " the act and the action of BJP and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi itself is a big proof that the opposition unity has doomed their future.

" " The BJP and their leader are still maintaining their ego and using derogatory language against the opposition even after loosing 3 lok sabha and one assembly bypolls in the state.

But the people will teach them a lesson this time," he further said.

He further alleged that the BJP, even after having twin engines( Centre and state) have failed to deliver.

"If SP was in power, the people of the Taj city would have got the international airport gift,", he said.

Mr Yadav ,who was in the city to visit the residence of former SP MP Ramji Lal Suman to pay his condolence on the death of his wife, said that the situation in UP in the BJP regime is deteriorating day by day and now even small girls are not safe in the state.
