NEW DELHI: A day after facing the Enforcement Directorate (ED), former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram was on Wednesday questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for almost five hours, in connection with the INX Media corruption case.

He was not allowed to bring his car into the CBI premises, and the security personnel insisted that he walk to the main reception and enter the building. After the questioning though, Chidambaram’s car was allowed inside to pick him up. He was allowed to leave the CBI office for lunch.

The Central agency has alleged irregularities in the clearance of foreign investment in INX Media, a venture promoted by former media baron Peter Mukerjea and his wife Indrani.

After coming out of the CBI headquarters, Chidambaram said the FIR lodged did not have any allegations against him.

“Appeared before CBI. FIR contains no allegations against me. Questions and Answers were based on the files of FIPB. Hence, there was little to add to the record,” he tweeted.
