MUMBAI: BJP president Amit Shah today met industrialist Ratan Tata here as part of his party's "contact for support" campaign ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state unit chief Raosaheb Danve and other party leaders were also present at the meet held at Tata's residence in south Mumbai.
During the meeting, which lasted about 30 minutes, Shah discussed the achievements and initiatives of the Modi government in the last four years.
"Met Shri @RNTata2000 ji as part of "Sampark For Samarthan" campaign. I took him through Modi government's development achievements and initiatives. It was nice meeting him and greatly value our conversation," the BJP president said on Twitter after the meeting.
Tata said in a tweet that he was impressed to learn about the progress in the implementation of the Narendra Modi government's initiatives and reform measures in the past four years.
"Pleasure mtng Shri @AmitShah with CM @Dev_Fadnavis & other dignitaries. Impressed to learn of progress in implementing Honble PM @NarendraModi's various national initiatives & reforms over past 4 yrs. Also discussed commitment of @TataTrusts to support major national programs," the industrialist tweeted.
Fadnavis later tweeted it was "inspiring" to meet the senior industrialist.
BJP leaders also presented a book on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Tata, he said.
The BJP has launched the 'sampark for samarthan' exercise to mark the fourth anniversary of the Modi government as it prepares for the 2019 polls.
Around 4,000 BJP functionaries, including chief ministers and Union ministers, will contact one lakh people, who are recognised names in their fields, to inform them about the government's achievements.
