NEW DELHI: Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday met the head of India Islamic Centre Sirajuddin Qureshi to discuss “development with dignity” and “empowerment without discrimination” of all citizens.

The meeting comes a day after the minister tried to reach out to the Christian community by meeting Bishop of Delhi Warris K Masih. The minority affairs minister in an indirect reference to recent controversies over letters by Delhi Archbishop Anil Coutos and Archbishop of Goa and Daman Father Filipe Neri Ferrao to Christians, said,“Desperate and disappointed evil forces” want to disturb peace but the people’s commitment to peace and unity will defeat and isolate such forces.
