Enforcement Directorate summons Nalini Chidambaram to appear on June 20 at its office in Kolkata

The ED officials believed that the advocate had taken huge money as consultancy fees and now they wanted to know the exact figure.

KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the trails of multi-crore rupees Saradha chit fund scandal, has summoned advocate Nalini Chidambaram, wife of former Union finance minster and Congress leader P Chidambaram, to appear at its CGO Complex office here on June 20.

The ED sources said that the Central government's investigating agency last week has served a notice to Nalini Chidambaram requesting her to depose before its officials in relation to the case of Saradha chit fund at 11 am on June 20.

This is the 4th notice to have been served to Nalini Chidambaram after her name appeared during investigations that she was one of the beneficiaries from now the defunct company.

They said earlier on three occasions notices were served but each time Nalini Chidambaram could not appear for pre-occupation.

The ED officials investigating the scam need to know if Nalini Chidambaram had received any money from Sudipto Sen, who is now in jail and the kingpin of the scam, that ruined many poor families who invested in ponzy firms.

The ED officials believed that the advocate had taken huge money as consultancy fees and now they wanted to know the exact figure.
