PATNA: A woman patient admitted at a private hospital in Patna district was allegedly video-taped in the nude and the video clip was made viral on the social media by the hospital staffers.

After the woman patient’s family saw the video clip and lodged an FIR, an employee of the hospital was arrested and the hospital premises were sealed, police said on Wednesday.

The shocking incident took place at Shri Ram Seva Sadan hospital at Bairamchak under Masaurhi police station. According to the FIR, the middle-aged woman was admitted at the hospital about a year ago for a uterus removal surgery. The video clip was apparently made when she was on the operation table and under the influence of anaesthesia, said a police official.

The FIR names Dr Upendra Kumar, who runs the hospital, and three of his employees. While Mithilesh Kumar, a compounder and one of the accused, was arrested, the others are absconding, said Masaurhi DSP Sonu Kumar Rai. Police are also looking into allegations that Dr Rai is an unqualified medical practitioner.

Letterhead pads seized at the hospital during a raid by police were in the name of Dr Radhakrishna. Efforts are also on to trace him and ascertain his links to this hospital and whether he had an MBBS degree, said the DSP.

“Prima facie, the video clip seems to have been made with the aim of creating pornographic content. Fresh allegations have come about the hospital staffers blackmailing women patients after making such indecent videos. We are also trying to find out if such videos were sold in the blue film market,” said the DSP.

Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said three police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused in this case. Police have found evidence that this private hospital was being run illegally for more than two years, he added.
