SRINAGAR: Mobile Internet services were restored today in Srinagar, a day after they were suspended as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order, a police official said.

He said the decision to restore the services was taken in view of the improving situation.

The authorities had yesterday barred mobile Internet services in Srinagar, Anantnag and Pulwama districts of the Valley.

The services were suspended as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order following an encounter in Anantnag district in which four militants, reportedly belonging to the Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir, were killed.

One of the slain militants was from Srinagar.

The official said the services continue to remain suspended in Anantnag and Pulwama, and a decision on restoring the facility would be taken after assessing the situation.
