RANCHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two Maoists - Munesh Ganjhu and Vinod Kumar Ganjhu on Friday and produced them before a Special NIA court of Navneet Kumar on Saturday seeking remand of 10 days.
The Court, however, granted five-day remand for the two arrested Maoists with a direction to NIA to produce them on July 5. Munesh was arrested from Circuit House in Chatra while Vinod was arrested from a restaurant in Ranchi late in the night on Friday. They have been charged for levy collection and other crimes for which FIRs had earlier been lodged at Tandwa in Chatra which has been taken over by the NIA.
Notably, a team of NIA is currently investigating the economic resources of Maoists and other Naxal outfits in Jharkhand in association with the State Police to check their financial lifeline.
