Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath slams state government over rising crimes against women

BHOPAL: Firing a broadside against the Madhya Pradesh regime for the graph of crimes against women rising, state Congress President Kamal Nath today said that 27,457 women committed suicides due to anti-social elements, depression and financial difficulties.

In a tweet, Mr Nath, while mentioning records of the Union Home Ministry, said that 93,479 women fell victims to molestation.

The incidents of rape against minors multiplied by 249 times.

An amount of Rs 27, 590 crore was allocated for the Women and Child Development Department from 2004-05 to 2016-17, but only Rs 5,402 cr was actually spent.

He claimed that 32 per cent of the minor girls are getting married in the state.
