MUMBAI: A special CBI court here directed Thursday that Shyamvar Rai, an accused-turned-approver in the Sheena Bora murder case, be produced on October 29.

Rai, lodged in the Taloja prison in Navi Mumbai since his arrest in 2015, has written a letter to the court.

A former driver of prime accused Indrani Mukerjea was earlier named as an accused in the case, but later became an approver (a prosecution witness).

Responding to his letter, special judge J C Jagdale asked prison officials to produce him in the court Monday.

While the content of his letter was not known, an official said he has pleaded for bail.

He had written a similar letter, seeking release on bail, in April this year.

The murder of 24-year-old Sheena Bora, daughter of media executive Indrani Mukerjea from an earlier relationship, came to light in August 2015 after Rai, arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, spilled the beans.

The Mumbai Police arrested Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and Rai in the murder case.

Indrani's husband Peter Mukerjea, a former media baron, was arrested later on the charge of being part of the conspiracy.

Sheena Bora was allegedly killed in April 2012.

As per the CBI, a financial dispute within the family led to her murder.
