Rebel AAP MLA Vinod Kumar Binny on Thursday accused party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of not fulfilling promises made to the people and threatened to go on a hunger strike from January 27.

Spelling out a list of demands, he said that the AAP-led government should pass Anna Hazare’s version of the Jan Lokpal Bill by January 26. Having criticised the Congress and BJP, the AAP must now show people how they are different from these two parties.

A day after Kejriwal took oath as Delhi’s CM, Binny, who defeated Congress strongman and former Delhi Health Minister Ashok Walia demanded that he be included as a Minister in the state Cabinet. When Arvind denied him the post, he threatened to rebel.

After Binny’s outburst in the media against AAP, Kejriwal on Thursday said,

“Earlier he came to me asking that he be made minister (in Delhi state cabinet), to which we didn’t agree.” Now he is demanding that he be given a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls. “ I will contest LS polls,” Kejriwal quoted Binny as saying.

Speaking to the media, Binny claimed, “My name was in the first list of Ministers sent to the Delhi Lt Governor.” But he claimed that he was not craving a ministerial post and had not even demanded an Assembly ticket.

“Scripted” by BJP

AAP leader Yogendra Yadav alleged that its MLA Vinod Binny’s statement has been scripted by BJP and he did not raise any of these issues in the party meeting held on Wednesday. “Binny-ji demanded that he be made Cabinet Minister, but it was denied. Then he demanded a Lok Sabha ticket,” said Yogendra, adding that the root of his anger may have been the denial of his demand to be made a Cabinet Minister and subsequently a Lok Sabha poll ticket.

“It seemed as if Binny-ji was reading out someone else’s speech. It had the same issues which Harsh Vardhan had raised,” Yadav said.
