The CBI on Monday questioned BJP general secretary Ramlal in connection with a sting operation regarding the Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case, in which Narendra Modi’s aide Amit Shah is an accused.

In the sting video released by independent journalist Pushp Sharma, BJP leaders Prakash Javadekar, Bhupendra Yadav and Ramlal were seen discussing ways to swing the trial in the case in Shah’s favour.

The BJP leaders were allegedly talking about  getting blank ‘vakalatnamas’ (authorisation letters to lawyers) signed by Prajapati’s mother Narmadabai so that a lawyer of their choice could be engaged to argue on behalf of her and thereby subvert the trial.

Prajapati, who was a witness in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in which Shah is an accused, was killed on December 26, 2006.

Narmadabai had alleged that her son was killed in a fake encounter at the behest of Shah, who was then the Home Minister in Gujarat.

The BJP has maintained that a leaked video tape is no proof that the three leaders were involved in any criminal act.
