The severe cyclonic storm, Phailin, lingered off the Coast of west central and adjoining Bay of Bengal on Friday afternoon, with winds at 210 kmph and gradually growing stronger, prompting the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to move 8 additional teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Bihar to Odisha. Two Indian Air Force IL-76 aircraft have also been despatched Friday morning with NDRF teams and equipment to Bhubneshwar. In Andhra Pradesh 15 teams have been deployed and out of these 4 teams have been rushed from Tamil Nadu. The authorities have advised total suspension of fishing operations and complete evacuation from coastal areas.

NDMA vice-chairman M Shashidhar Reddy said  that 24X7 Control room was set up. It has also constituted a 30-member quick response medical team to move to affected areas at short notice, four Public Health teams and 3 psychological teams.
