Despite Pakistan’s denial that its soil is being used to launch terrorists into the Indian territory, the central intelligence agencies have said they have technical input that suggests Pashto-speaking terrorists were among the infiltrators in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

“We are decoding and analysing the technical data. So far the evidence indicate that such massive operation involving Pashto-speaking terrorists could not have taken place without the ISI support,” sources in the agency said. A senior intelligence official said there is also a possibility that the terrorists had recced the area during the intervening period of handing over of the post.

Terrorists in some calls were heard telling their handlers that the areas “they had earlier visited and spent night” were under attack. This could mean that during the period, they had carried out reconnaissance mission.

“They are specially trained terrorists. Generally such engagements get over within two to three days but they have sustained for over 14 days. Terrains and dense forests are one of the reasons but so much firepower indicates active support of state factors. In July-August we had input that the ISI is imparting subsistence training to terrorists,” the official said.
