Union Minister for Commerce and Industries Anand Sharma on Saturday said that the government proposes to set up industrial townships all over the country to generate employment.

Addressing an International Conference on Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility at Sanghol, in Fatehgarh Sahib district on Saturday, Sharma said that this venture will generate employment for about one billion youths.

He said that during the last couple of decades India has witnessed exponential progress through public-private partnership.

He added that due to quality education, the youth feel privileged and more empowered today than they did previously.

Highlighting the progressive outlook of the UPA government, the Minister said that the schemes like MNREGA and DBT have earned great acclaim among the masses. Sharma urged the corporate sector not to lose sight of its social responsibility.

Prof. Ved Parkash, the Chairman of University Grants Commission said that India has the largest system of higher education in the world. Speaking about the general proclivity of the youth towards science and technology related disciplines, he emphasized that humanities and languages are equally important in life.
