Siva is Nandishwarar here

Adambakkam, situated close to Alandur, is an ancient place as testified to by the presence of an old temple for Siva, worshipped as Nandishwarar. The temple has two entrance ways, sans gopuram, one on the south and the other on the east, the latter being the main entrance. On entering the spacious courtyard (prakaram) from the south side, the devotee can directly see the sanctum of Goddess Parvati, worshipped by the unique name, Avudai Nayaki, facing south. This shrine can also be reached through a small stone mandapa, unfortunately much modernised, which has pillars of the Chola style of architecture with some sculptures on them. Near the shrine of the Goddess is an image of Bhairava, facing south, while in the mandapa, it’s a west-facing icon of Surya.

The main east-facing sanctum of Nandishwara, enshrining a Siva Linga, can also be entered from this mandapa. Immediately in front of this sanctum, also facing east, is an image of Vallabha Ganesha. Nearby, is a stone slab with an inscription etched on it, and thankfully carefully preserved by the temple authorities.

The prakaram has sanctums for Sundara Vinayaka, Subramanya and Navagraha. The large temple tank is situated close to the temple, on the street which is perpendicular to it. Interestingly, in this temple, during pradosham (the thirteenth-day of every fortnight in the Hindu calendar, sacred to Siva), Puja is done for Siva, the presiding deity first and then for Nandi, unlike other temples where Nandi is given the first honours.

A Tamil inscription, originally discovered on the floor in front of the sanctum of Nandishwarar, is datable to the 11th century AD and belongs to the reign of Rajaraja Chola I (985-1014 AD). It mentions the donation of ninety goats for providing ghee for worship.
