Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh speaks to The New Indian Express Editorial Director Prabhu Chawla on Teekhi Baat on IBN7. Excerpts:
Who is running the party—Soniaji, Rahulji, Digivjay Singh?
Party is run under the guidance of Soniaji.
But over the past one week Priyankaji, Rahulji took meeting of CMs. But Soniaji is taking no meetings
It is not so. She presides over working committee meetings, time to time. All general secretaries, vice presidents, and others discuss with Soniaji. As far as Priyankaji is concerned, Janardan Dwivedi has said she will campaign in Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur and nowhere else.
You are Congress general secretary. Do you see any change in working style after Soniaji gave work to Vice President?
From the time Rahulji has become Vice President, he has taken a lot of responsibility. He has taken meetings on every state every three months with state leader. CLP leader, secretary AICC, general secretary AICC of that state, Ahmed Patelji, Janardan Dwivediji are reviewing and making action taken reports.
But 33 ministers passed a bill and vice president tore it. Who is powerful Rahul Gandhi, or 33 ministers?
But party has a right to have a say in the policy matter of the government.
Unemployment has increased in your tenure, industrial growth rate was -1.8 per cent.
Don’t forget the judiciary too has had a contribution in this. CAG reports on 2G, coal block, and the way judiciary has taken up environment issue has affected it.
Is Rahul Gandhi the ideal Prime Ministerial candidate?
I have already said it.
