Police sub-inspector Devyani Ambekar and constableKetan Naik were suspended after they allegedly tried to bribeDeputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Vimal Gupta to closethe inquiry against them, police said.
Police said that Ambekar was facing a departmentalinquiry after she along with another constable RahulSalgaoncar allegedly assaulted a man near Panaji in 2014 andtook away his car.
Naik was facing a departmental inquiry in a caserelated to indiscipline.
"Both were facing departmental inquiry against themwhich was being conducted by Gupta. They are currentlysuspended after they tried to bribe him," a policespokesperson said today.
While Ambekar was posted at the Women Police Stationin Panaji, constable Naik was working at the headquarters. PTIRPSBNM.
