Patna, Dec 6 (PTI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister SushilKumar Modi today said Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi wasanti-temple and that his visits to the shrines in Gujarat, sporting a "tilak", and talks of his wearing a "janeu" (asacred thread Brahmins wear) were aimed at hiding this.

"When the country's first president, Rajendra Prasad, ason of Bihar's soil, had performed a puja at the Somnathtemple in Gujarat, the then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who was a proponent of pseudo-secularism, had expressed hisstrong disapproval," the senior BJP leader tweeted.

"Guided by the same ideology, Congress leader Kapil Sibalis now arguing against the Ram temple before the SupremeCourt," he said, referring to the former Union ministerrepresenting the Sunni Waqf Board, a party to the Ayodhyatitle dispute, in the apex court.

Yesterday, Sibal had prayed to the Supreme Court fordeferring the hearing on the title suit till after the 2019Lok Sabha polls.

However, the Congress has distanced itself from Sibal'sstand.

Taking a dig at Gandhi, who is all set to become theCongress president, Sushil Modi said he was trying to "hidehis anti-temple face by resorting to tilak-janeu and templetourism".

Gandhi's aggressive campaign in poll-bound Gujarat hasdrawn the ire of many NDA leaders. JD(U) president and BiharChief Minister Nitish Kumar had recently alleged that theCongress' poll strategy in Gujarat was veering towardsextremism.

The 182-member Gujarat Assembly will go to the polls intwo phases -- on December 9 and 14 -- and the counting ofvotes will be taken up on December 18. PTI NAC KKRC.
