Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), Dec 7 (PTI) The Justice RanjitSingh Commission of Inquiry (CoI), constituted to look intocases of sacrilege in the state, will submit its report to thestate government soon.

Justice (retired) Singh said today that its probe intothe desecration incident in Bargari was almost complete.

The report will highlight the reasons and circumstancesbehind the incidents of sacrilege in various places andsuggest measures to prevent such incidents in future, the headof the commission said.

Earlier, he visited Fatehgarh Sahib railway station,where torn pages of a religious book were found earlier. Healso visited village Sindhran, Ambey Majra, Chatarpura andBadesha Kalan where incidents of desecration of a holy bookwere reported.

He talked in detail with village panchayats, members ofGurudwara Committees and prominent citizens. He also collecteddetails about the inquiry conducted by police.

Rejecting as "inconclusive" the report of the Zora SinghCommission, the Congress government, which came to power inMarch this year, had a month later constituted a freshCommission of Inquiry headed by Justice (retired) Ranjit Singhto investigate all cases of sacrilege in the state.

The new commission has a tenure of six months.

Justice Ranjit Singh is a former judge of the Punjab andHaryana High Court.

The commission has also been tasked with inquiring anincident of firing in Kotkapura in Faridkot in 2015, in whichtwo people were killed. PTI COR SUNSMN.
