New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI) Pepper prices rose by Rs 1,005 or2.84 per cent to close at Rs 36,400 per quintal in futurestrade today as speculators enlarged positions on good demandin the spot market amid squeezed supply.

In futures trading at the National Commodity andDerivatives Exchange, pepper for delivery in current monthrose by Rs 1,005, or 2.84 per cent, to close at Rs 36,400 perquintal with a trading volume of 13 lots.

Traders said widening of positions built up byparticipants amid rising domestic as well as export demandin the physical market following a drop in arrivals fromproducing belts, mainly led to the sharp rise in pepper pricesin futures trade. PTI DP SUN DPLSBT.
