Beirut, Dec 7 (AFP) The head of Lebanon's powerfulHezbollah movement today called for a mass demonstration inprotest at US President Donald Trump's recognition ofJerusalem as Israel's capital.
"I call on everyone to take part in a mass populardemonstration to protest and denounce this American aggressionand this unjust... decision," Hassan Nasrallah said in atelevised address.
The demonstration is to be held on Monday in Beirut'ssouthern suburbs, a bastion of Nasrallah's Shiite movement.
"I am calling on men, women, young and old, the southernsuburbs, Beirut and all those who wish to join in from acrossLebanon," Nasrallah said, also inviting residents of Lebanon's12 Palestinian refugee camps.
Trump yesterday announced that his administration wasrecognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a move thatwas widely condemned as inflammatory.
Most of the international community does not recogniseJerusalem as Israel's capital, insisting the issue can only beresolved through negotiations with the Palestinians. (AFP)NSA.
