Phagwara, Dec 10 (PTI) Heads continued to roll in thejail break case here with the Sub-jail Deputy SuperintendentGurpreet Singh being placed under suspension for allegeddereliction of duty.
Two under-trials lodged in the case had escaped from thejail on December 7.
Jail officials said Rajinder Singh has been giventemporary charge in place of Gurpreet Singh.
Jail Superintendent, Central jail, Ludhiana SP Khanna,who is conducting an inquiry into jail escape incident,confirmed that the DSP had been suspended.
Earlier, three head constables of the local Sub-jailKabul Singh, Harpal Singh and Mangat Singh were placed undersuspension for alleged dereliction of duty.
City police had earlier booked the three head constablesfor alleged dereliction of duty.
Police had also booked the three under-trials, includingthe duo who had escaped, under relevant provisions of the law.
The two under-trials Amandeep Kumar and Rajwinder Singhhad escaped after throwing tea and pepper in the eyes of jailstaff.
The third under-trial Pawan Kumar, who also tried toescape, was overpowered by jail staff. PTI CORR SUNDV.
