Colombo, Dec 12 (PTI) Chief of Air Staff Air ChiefMarshal BS Dhanoa called on Sri Lankan Prime Minister RanilWickremesinghe here and held discussions on matters ofbilateral importance, according to Sri Lanka Air Force.

Yesterday, Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa also called on theCommander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal KapilaJayampathy, State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene andDefence Ministry Secretary Kapila Waidyaratne at the Templetress, official residence of the prime minister.

During the meeting between Wickremesinghe and Air ChiefMarshal Dhanoa, matters of bilateral importance and mutualrelevance were discussed, the Sri Lanka Airforce said.

Ahead of the IAF chief's visit, India's defence ministryhad said that the trip would provide impetus towardsincreasing defence co-operation between the two air forces andpave the way for greater interaction in the future.

"This would also strengthen relationships, enableengagement in productive exchanges and promote understandingof joint issues and challenges," it had said.

Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa is on a four-day visit to SriLanka in which he will deliberate with top brass of SriLanka's defence establishment on issues relating to regionalsecurity.

During the visit, the IAF chief would also review thecommissioning and passing out parade of the Sri Lanka AirForce Academy on December 14.

The IAF also participated for a briefing on theoperational aspects of the SLAF which was delivered by theDirector of Air Operations Air Vice Marshal SudharshanaPathirana. PTI CORRAJR.
