The directive was issued by the Foreign Ministryfollowing its decision last week to allow Jadhav's family tomeet him on December 25 in Islamabad, they said.

The Foreign Office sources said that adequate securitymeasures will be taken for complete safety of Jadhav's family.

An Indian high commission official will be allowed toaccompany Jadhav's family during their meeting.

Jadhav, 47, was sentenced to death by a Pakistanimilitary court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April, following which India moved the ICJ in May. The ICJ halted hisexecution on India's appeal pending the final verdict by it.

Pakistan claims its security forces arrested Jadhav aliasHussein Mubarak Patel from restive Balochistan province onMarch 3 last year after he reportedly entered from Iran.

India, however, maintains that Jadhav was kidnapped fromIran where he had business interests after retiring from theNavy.

Pakistan yesterday rejected India's plea for consularaccess to Jadhav at the ICJ, claiming that New Delhi wantsthe access to get the information gathered by its "spy".

Pakistan has repeatedly denied India consular access toJadhav on the ground that it was not applicable in casesrelated to spies.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisaltold media that India has formally responded to Pakistan'soffer to let family of Jadhav meet him on humanitariangrounds.

"We have received a reply from the Indian side, that theywould be sending Commander Jadhav's wife and mother onDecember 25, 2017. The details and modalities of the meetingwill now be worked out," he said. PTI SH ZH AKJUZM.
