Panaji, Nov 5 (PTI) The Goa government iscontemplating the possibility of increasing the spending oneducational sector to 5-6 per cent of the gross domesticproduct, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said.

At present the the spending on the sector stands at3.4 per cent.

Parrikar made this announcement during a pressconference last evening where he had presented the detailedanalysis of the spending of the state during the currentfiscal.

The chief minister said the current allocation foreducational sector which is around 3.4 per cent of the GDP ishighest in the country and much more than the nationalaverage.

He said that the state government which has decided tomake education a priority area will increase the spending to5-6 per cent of the GDP in the coming years. PTI RPSRMT.
