Mumbai, Nov 6 (PTI) A six-year-old girl died afterfalling off a horse during a joyride in South Mumbai, policesaid today.

The tragic incident occurred yesterday at 4 pm at theCooperage Ghoda Garden in Colaba, a place popular for horsejoyrides for the last four decades, Manojkumar Sharma, DeputyCommissioner of Police, said.

The horse handler has been arrested.

The girl, Janhavi Mahendra Mistri, a KG student, hadcome to the garden with her parents. She took a horse ride,which ended in a tragedy when she was thrown off and fellbetween the legs of the animal, an official said.

She suffered severe injuries to the head and otherparts of the body. Her parents rushed her to Bombay Hospital,where she succumbed late last night due to internal headinjuries and bleeding, he said.

Janhavi's parents stay at Khetwadi-Girgaum in SouthMumbai and her father Mahendra Mistri is CEO of a privatefirm, the official said.

The Colaba police have registered an offence againstthe horse handler, Sohan Chhotu Jaiswal, and arrested him.

The 30-year-old, a resident of Cuffe Parade, has beenbooked under the IPC section 304 (II) (culpable homicide notamounting to murder), said Vijay Dhopavkar, senior inspectorof the Colaba Police Station. PTI DCRSY.
