New Delhi, Nov 10 (PTI) The 12th edition of Sambhav, aninclusive platform for disabled artistes and experts, kickedoff here today with participants from 16 countries.

Organised by Delhi-based NGO Association for LearningPerforming Arts & Normative Action (ALPANA), the three-dayfestival was inaugurated by Riva Ganguly Das, DirectorGeneral- Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) at AzadBhavan.

"ICCR supports inclusive arts and promotion of disabledartistes come to the world stage. Sambhav is an effort in thatdirection," she said.

The festival will host 29 artistes groups from Australia,Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Myanmar,Mauritius, Nepal, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Kingdom,Uzbekistan, Vietnam and India.

The event will have nine different activities includingdance performances, art exhibitions, yoga workshop, andinteractive sessions by experts and rights activists.

"Over the last twelve years or so, Sambhav has grown tobecome a major international event of inclusive arts in theIndian national capital. It showcases inclusiveness of Indiansociety and also brings together such efforts by physicallyand mentally challenged artists in other countries," theorganisers said.

During International seminar titled "Divyang: Artistswith Disability for an inclusive society" papers andexperiences will be shared by experts and practitioners.

While an art and craft workshop will be organised fordisabled artists from India and abroad, a separate exhibitionwill showcase paintings, sculptures and artifacts made bythem.

Exposure visits to schools and heritage sites will beheld for the participants.

Each evening will come to an end with dance and musicperformances by disabled artistes.
