Kolkata, Nov 14 (PTI) Hungarian actor FranciskaTorocsik said her country's capital Budapest, its culture andits people have influenced the filmmaking culture of eastEuropean nations in more ways than one.

Torocsik's film 'Aurora Borealis' was screened at theSpecial Tribute section of the 23rd Kolkata International FilmFestival yesterday.

"If you enter Budapest, see the view and people, youwill understand the influence of this beautiful city on thefilmmaking cultures of other east European nations," Torocsik,who played the lead role in the film, told PTI.

Stressing that Hungary is a member of the EuropeanUnion, Torocsik said the country has come a long way and aimsto be at par with Austria and Germany.

Referring to the Communist regime, she said Hungaryhad faced difficult times in 50s and 60s, but the country hasmade immense progress over the past few decades.

Another Hungarian delegation member Ivan Vitaris said,"There is no censorship over filmmakers now and in the lastfour years, movies from our country went to the Oscars andreceived appreciations at Berlin and Cannes festivals."Asked about her role in 'Aurora Borealis', which wasreleased in Hungary a month back, Torocsik said, "The filmstarts in the 1950s and shows the journey of a woman over thenext few decades. It encapsulates the past and the present anddwells on harassment of women as a subject." PTI SUSRMS.
