Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 14 (PTI) Kerala Governor PSathasivam today signed an ordinance which seeks to reduce theterm of a board which manages over 1,000 Hindu temples afterthe state government submitted its replies to clarificationssought by him, official sources said.

The Governor had yesterday sought details of theTravancore Devaswom Board (TDB) Act, which the ordinance seeksto amend, and the circumstances that led to the CPI-M led LDFGovernment deciding to cut short by one year the three-yearterm of the TDB Board.

He sought the clarifications in the backdrop of oppositionCongress-led UDF and BJP urging him not to sign the ordinanceclaiming that the government's move was ''politicallymotivated''.

   Sources in the Devaswom Minister's office here today saidthe reply for the clarifications sought was given and theGovernor signed the ordinance.

    A special cabinet meeting held on November 9 decided topromulgate the ordinance reducing the term of the board.

    TDB manages about 1,240 temples, including the famous LordAyyappa temple at Sabarimala, where the pilgrim season is setto begin by this month end. PTI LGK JRKVS.
